Senior Life & Protection Underwriter
This role can be worked from the Surrey head office or on a home working basis.
* New Operation
* Part of a global banking & insurance provider
* High profile management team
This is a hugely exciting opportunity, the like of which does not come around very often. A major, new operation that will focus on the life and protection markets in the UK, has been set up and the initial requirement is to recruit 12 underwriting staff to supplement the management and operations teams already in place. In terms of experience, our client requires people who have underwriting experience in a number of lines, those being life assurance, critical illness and income protection.
The main brief is to assess policy applications and make underwriting decisions within our clients guidelines and underwriting philosophy.
As mentioned above, this is a new organisation and therefore processes and procedures are constantly evolving and changing, so we require people who are prepared to contribute and develop new ideas and processes. You will be in daily contact with customers and intermediaries, with telephone helplines available from 8am to 8pm and therefore some flexibility of working hours may be required.
With a highly sophisticated initial underwriting system which assesses the straightforward cases, you will focus on the more complex applications. Due to the contact you will have will customers and intermediaries, as well as other areas of the business (actuarial, administration, claims), you must have excellent communication skills and be capable of building professional working relationships.
With major financial backing, our client is offering rare opportunity for people with four years+ underwriting experience. A comprehensive benefits package is in place and as with any new operation such as this, the opportunity to develop your career in the medium term is there and for you to take advantage of.
